Forged Aluminum Thick Plate – Process & Quality Assurance Statement
Our forged aluminum thick plates are produced through rigorous hot forging to provide exceptional mechanical properties and internal integrity in heavy sections, far surpassing the capabilities of rolled plates in critical structural applications.
Key process features
The forging process is optimized to refine material characteristics while maintaining tight control over alloy performance:
●Billet Preparation: Certified high-quality aluminum ingots are cut into blocks and preheated to exact forging temperatures.
●Open-Die Forging: Powerful hydraulic presses apply multiple controlled reductions to achieve the desired thickness, closing porosity and directing grain flow for maximum toughness.
●Heat Treatment: Solution annealing followed by precipitation hardening (e.g., T651 temper) develops optimal strength and relieves stresses.
●Plate Leveling: Precision roller leveling ensures excellent flatness and minimal residual stress.
●Surface Milling: Both faces are milled to precise thickness and smooth finish, removing any scale.
●Non-Destructive Testing: Ultrasonic examination confirms internal soundness across the entire plate.
●Final Protection: Plates are cleaned, coated with protective film, and securely crated for damage-free global delivery.
Quality control system
● Complete traceability from alloy ingot batch to finished plate
● Comprehensive mill test reports and forging certifications included with every shipment
● Sample retention ≥3 years for third-party inspection (SGS, BV, TÜV, etc.)
● 100% inspection of key parameters:
• Chemical composition (optical emission spectrometry)
• Mechanical properties (tensile, yield, elongation, and hardness testing on multiple samples)
• Dimensional accuracy (CMM and ultrasonic thickness; typical flatness ≤0.5mm/m) • Internal integrity (full ultrasonic scanning on thick sections)
• Surface quality (visual and roughness measurement)
● Internal standards exceed ASTM B247 requirements. Typical 7075-T651 forged properties: Tensile strength ≥570 MPa, Yield strength ≥500 MPa, Superior resistance to stress corrosion and fatigue in thick configurations.
● ISO 9001:2015 certified operations ensure every forged aluminum thick plate delivers the consistent strength, precision, and reliability essential for your most demanding structural projects.
