Bimetallic Copper-Steel Large Disc – Process & Quality Assurance Statement
Our bimetallic copper-steel large discs are engineered to provide the best of both materials: copper's superior heat dissipation and low-friction properties on the working face, backed by steel's structural strength and affordability for heavy industrial use.
Key process features
The explosion bonding process creates an unbreakable metallurgical bond between layers for maximum reliability:
●Surface Preparation: Copper and steel plates are meticulously cleaned and prepared to ensure perfect interface contact.
●Explosion Bonding: Controlled detonation welds the layers at atomic level, producing a wavy bond line with exceptional shear strength.
●Heat Treatment: Post-bond annealing relieves stresses and restores material ductility without compromising the bond.
●Rough Machining: Blanks are turned or milled to approximate disc dimensions.
●Finish Machining: Precision CNC operations achieve final diameter, thickness, and surface finish on copper face.
●Surface Enhancement: Optional grinding or oil grooves added for improved lubrication retention.
●Protection & Packaging: Discs are coated with anti-corrosion oil and securely crated for safe global transport.
Quality control system
● Complete traceability from raw plate batches to finished disc
● Bond integrity certificates and material reports provided with every shipment
● Sample retention ≥3 years for third-party testing (SGS, BV, TÜV, etc.)
● 100% inspection of essential parameters:
• Chemical composition of both layers (optical emission spectrometry)
• Bond strength (ultrasonic and shear testing; typically >200 MPa interface)
• Dimensional accuracy (CMM; typical tolerance ±1mm on diameter/thickness)
• Surface finish and flatness (profilometer + straightedge checks)
• Internal bonding quality (full ultrasonic scanning for delamination)
● Internal standards exceed ASTM cladding requirements. Typical properties: Bond shear strength ≥250 MPa, Copper face hardness 80-120 HB, Excellent thermal transfer with no separation under heavy loads.
● ISO 9001:2015 certified production ensures every bimetallic copper-steel large disc delivers proven durability, cost efficiency, and performance in your severe-duty mechanical systems.
