Forged Aluminum Rod – Process & Quality Assurance Statement
Our forged aluminum rods are produced through open-die or closed-die hot forging to achieve exceptional mechanical properties and internal soundness, making them the material of choice for critical load-bearing applications where reliability is paramount.
Key process features
The forging process is engineered to refine grain structure and enhance performance:
●Billet Preparation: Certified aluminum alloys are cut from premium ingots and preheated to forging temperature.
●Hot Forging: Heated billets undergo multiple controlled deformation passes under hydraulic presses or hammers to shape the rod and improve density.
●Trimming & Heat Treatment: Excess material is removed, followed by solution heat treatment and aging (e.g., T6 temper) to optimize strength and hardness.
●Straightening: Precision straightening ensures minimal runout and excellent linearity.
●Surface Finishing: Optional turning or peeling provides smooth, accurate diameters.
●Non-Destructive Testing: Ultrasonic inspection verifies internal integrity on critical sizes.
●Protection & Packaging: Rods are cleaned, ends capped, and securely bundled for safe international transport.
Quality control system
● Full traceability from alloy melt to finished rod
● Material test certificates and forging reports included with every shipment
● Sample retention ≥3 years for third-party verification (SGS, BV, TÜV, etc.)
● 100% inspection of essential parameters:
• Chemical composition (optical emission spectrometry)
• Mechanical properties (tensile, yield, elongation, and hardness testing on samples) • Dimensional accuracy (micrometers and ultrasonic gauges; typical tolerance ±0.5% on diameter)
• Internal soundness (ultrasonic testing standard for larger diameters)
• Surface quality (visual and dye penetrant checks)
● Internal standards meet or exceed ASTM B247 requirements. Typical 6061-T6 forged properties: Tensile strength ≥310 MPa, Yield strength ≥275 MPa, Superior fatigue life compared to rolled material.
● ISO 9001:2015 certified operations ensure every forged aluminum rod delivers the consistent strength, precision, and dependability your high-stakes projects require.
