Aluminum Alloy Thick Plate – Process & Quality Assurance Statement
Our aluminum alloy thick plates are selected for applications demanding robust performance, lightweight design, and long-term durability in challenging environments.
Key process features
Production follows strict rolling and heat treatment protocols to ensure uniform properties throughout large sections:
●Ingot Casting: High-purity aluminum with precise alloy additions is continuously or semi-continuously cast into thick slabs.
●Homogenization: Slabs undergo extended heat soaking to eliminate segregation and improve workability.
●Hot Rolling: Controlled reduction from slab to plate thickness refines grain and achieves initial flatness.
●Cold Rolling & Stretching: Final passes and stretcher leveling provide precise thickness and remove residual stresses (T651 temper).
●Heat Treatment: Solution annealing followed by aging develops optimal mechanical properties for specific alloys.
●Sawing & Finishing: Plates are cut to size with clean edges; surfaces protected with film where required.
●Packaging: Heavy-duty crating and interleaving prevent damage during long-distance shipping.
Quality control system
● Full traceability from ingot heat number to finished plate
● Mill test certificates with full chemical and mechanical data included with every shipment
● Sample retention ≥3 years for third-party testing (SGS, BV, TÜV, etc.)
● 100% inspection of critical parameters:
• Chemical composition (optical emission spectrometry)
• Mechanical properties (tensile, yield, elongation, and hardness across multiple locations)
• Dimensional accuracy (ultrasonic thickness + flatness gauges; typical tolerance ±0.5mm on thickness)
• Surface quality and defects (visual + penetrant inspection)
• Internal soundness (ultrasonic scanning on thick plates)
● Internal standards exceed ASTM B209 requirements. Typical 6061-T651 properties: Tensile strength ≥310 MPa, Yield strength ≥275 MPa, Excellent machinability and corrosion resistance in thick sections.
● ISO 9001:2015 certified facility ensures every aluminum alloy thick plate delivers consistent quality and performance for your structural and high-stress applications.
